FAQs

For Employers

What sort of roles do you hire for right now?

We are starting with tech and sales roles. More to come.

How do I hire the talent?

There are 2 ways to do it: either by contracting an EOR (Employer of Record) who acts as your employer in Mexico. Or by just writing a lightweight contractor agreement and wiring money directly to the worker, who will do his/her own taxes.

Either way, we've partnered with Deel to do this. They will make sure both and your employee are compliant.

How do I get a computer and equipment to my new hire?

There are loads of companies that do this, but we recommend Growrk - they will send your employee a laptop no matter where they are. Expect the same level of security, compliance

Will you focus on more roles and more countries?

Si señor! The plan is to focus on Mexico first, and then expand from there.

Do you conduct background checks?

We don't but our partner Deel does.

What if I want to offer health insurance to my employees?

If you are going through and EOR, you can just add it as one of the benefits. If you are going the contractor route, the easiest would be to send extra money to cover the monthly premiums. In Mexico they are around 100 USD/month. Its much much cheaper than in the US.

For Candidates

Is GringoJobs an outsourcing company?

No. We are a job board, so your working relationship would be directly with your employer.

Do I have to pay GringoJobs anything?

Nope!

Do I need to speak English?

Yes. The minimum level expected is B2 - or "upper intermediate". Basically, you need to be able to operate in a professional English speaking environment. If you want to learn more, click here.

How will I get paid?

Depends on the company. Sometimes you'll get paid in pesos with benefits as a normal employee. Other times you'll get paid in USD as a contractor.

How will the interview go?

Hopefully very well! 😅

Lol, sorry - to be more precise - it depends. Asking the recruiter in the first call what to expect is very normal and you can do that.

Do I get vacation and sick days as a contractor?

It depends, but in many cases you do, especially if you are working full time. You would need to discuss it during the interview process. There is no legal requirement to give you PTO however.
